Università di Palermo: Bando dottorati ciclo XL - A.A. 2024/2025
The PhD program for 2024 (XL Cycle) offers 56 positions across 6 curricula:
- Marine biodiversity and innovative technological solutions;
- Terrestrial and freshwater biodiversity and innovative technological solutions;
- Urban biodiversity and innovative technological solutions;
- Translate scientiftc evidence on biodiversity into social awareness and economic value;
- Biodiversity and the one-health approach;
- Biodiversity & innovation: business, policy, systemic logic and regenerative economy.
CLOSING APPLICATIONS: AUGUST 2, 2024
THE PHD PROGRAMME STARTS ON NOVEMBER 1ST 2024
All aspects involved in mapping, monitoring, restoring and valorizing biodiversity across all habitats, from deep-sea to upper mountains through urban ecosystems are crucial to address human-well-being.
The National PhD School in Biodiversity, coordinated by the University of Palermo, is a collaborative initiative among universities, public research institutions, and private companies, supported by the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC). Healthy and functioning ecosystems, sustained by biodiversity, form the essential foundation for life on our planet.
The PHD students will deal with the complex transition from pristine ecosystems to ecosystems which are heavily impacted by human disturbance, in order to promote biodiversity conservation, monitoring and restoration, the latest being recently confirmed as one of the central policy law by the European Union, with the establishment of the Restoration Law (2024).
Moreover, biodiversity valorization activities, enhanced by innovative technological tools, will contribute to Global Health, create new jobs and support the development of management strategies in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
Bando per una borsa di dottorato di interesse nazionale (DIN Biodiversità - PNRR NBFC) per lo sviluppo di un progetto di ricerca di Citizen Science sulla biodiversità dei tardigradi, il cui titolo è il seguente:
"The biodiversity of Italian terrestrial tardigrades through an integrative taxonomy approach, involving morphological and molecular analyses: the Citizen science contribution to reach new scientific knowledge and to foster the environmental awareness among young generations."
